A celebration of natural stone, Milan Design Week 2022 showcases newly-commissioned pieces created by OMA in collaboration with SolidNature. This continued dialogue has led to a mutual exploration of new ways to enhance the wonder of these materials, exemplified by the Balance Cabinet, the Day Bed and the Technological Stone, created by Ellen van Loon and Giulio Margheri. Each work highlights the spectacular nature of its materials and an ability to envision new possibilities for the future.
Products & Collaborations
Stone ages beautifully and acquires patina through time. It’s easier to feel connected to materials that foster this kind of organic relationship with the user.
In addition to creating bespoke objets d’art, OMA also experimented with off-cuts to conceive potential usages that heighten sustainability. Using marble dust and ground stone combined with resin, new avenues of material development are explored.
